Davey admits discriminatory cap on dedicated biomass

02/11/2012

In Ed Davey’s statement on Wednesday, following John Hayes’ remarks in the Mail and the Telegraph, he stated “There are no targets - or caps - for individual renewable technologies”.

However, questioned by the Back Biomass campaign, Davey admitted that there is in fact a cap on dedicated biomass, due to the need for his department to control costs.

The cap on dedicated biomass is damaging investor confidence – delaying proposed projects and meaning that billions of pounds of key infrastructure investment and thousands of jobs are hanging in limbo.
