The Daily Telegraph: Eco-heat for Her Majesty

25/03/2013

The Queen is following the lead of Prince Charles, with plans to heat homes and businesses on the Crown Estate in Windsor using woodchips from its forests. Estate managers want to switch from fossil fuel use by constructing a biomass boiler at Russell’s Farm, turning the chips from 7,660 acres of the Queen’s forests into renewable energy for staff homes and offices in the Great Park village. A planning application has been lodged with the local authority, and Andrew Dunning of the Crown Estate said he was committed to providing sustainable energy.
