Keswick Country House Hotel, on Station Road, had the boiler fitted in a converted part of the hotel, formerly an outbuilding.

The boiler will heat the building using wood chips.

Julian Kollard, director at Choice Hotels which has owned the site since 2002, said the boiler would save thousands of pounds in energy bills every year.

The boiler was fitted as part of Blackpool’s Choice Hotels’ £300,000 revamp of its hotels in the Lake District.

Mr Kollard said: “Our Lake District hotels are surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country, and this investment is part of the wider role we play in protecting our environment for guests to enjoy.

“As well as producing carbon-neutral and renewable energy, these high-tech systems are also cost effective, so we can keep our prices low.”
